Overview
Zinc Undecylenate is the Zinc salt of Undecylenic Acid which is a fatty acid obtained by cracking of Ricinoleic acid which is derived from Castor oil.
Uses of Zinc Undecylenate
- The Undecylenic acid part of the Zinc Undecylenate is known for its anti-fungal properties which means that it prevents the growth of fungus. The zinc in the Zinc Undecylenate works by reducing the irritation and swelling caused by the fungal infections.
- Zinc Undecylenate is a very economical anti-fungal agent and is used as an active ingredient in many topical over the counter anti-fungal preparations. It provides an astringent action, reducing rawness and irritation caused by the fungal infection.
- Zinc Undecylenate is reported to be especially effective for athlete’s foot and similar infections. Zinc Undecylenate is therefore used as an active ingredient in powders and ointments for athlete’s foot.
